Design details: ....Her Majesty A memorial UK £5 coin struck to honour the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history. Created by John Bergdahl in collaboration with The Royal Mint, the reverse of the coin fittingly represents the breadth of Queen Elizabeth II’s remarkable reign. For the past 70 years, The Royal Mint has had the privilege of striking coins for a monarch loved and revered by millions of people around the world. As we reflect on Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s remarkable reign, we pay tribute to Britain’s longest-reigning monarch. Features the reverse design created for the 1953 coronation crown designed by herald painter Edgar Fuller and modelled by Cecil Thomas.
The obverse of the new
King is designed by Martin Jennings. Martin has been making public
sculptures in the UK for many years. His representations of great writers
and poets, including John Betjeman at St Pancras Station, Philip Larkin in
Hull, Charles Dickens in Portsmouth, and George Orwell outside BBC’s
Broadcasting House, are particularly well-known and admired.
